PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The victim in a Perry County fatal stabbing has been identified.

Leticia Denise Hinton, 29, died of an apparent single stab wound to the chest, according to Perry County authorities.

“We did interview a person of interest but as of right now, there appears to be no foul play involved,” said Perry County Sheriff Mitch Nobles. “That person was released and no charges were filed.”

Nobles said they are also waiting on the autopsy results from the state crime lab to continue the investigation.

The scene:

"Deputies responded to Perry County General hospital just after 9 p.m. to a report of a female suffering from a stab wound," Perry County Sheriff Mitch Nobles said.

The incident happened at a home at 1821 North Highway 15, north of Richton.

"The female died from her injures, and the investigation is ongoing at this time," Nobles said.
