Hydraulic oil spill at US 49 and Old MS 42 affecting traffic

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A hydraulic oil spill on US 49 at Old MS 42 has all southbound lanes blocked to traffic. 

About 15 gallons of oil spilled from a truck. 

Some traffic is passing on the right shoulder near Roper's.

Fire and MDOT crews are on scene now laying bags of sand. 

MDOT officials urge motorists to use caution when traveling in the area until the scene is clear. 

Traffic could be delayed up to an hour.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
