LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - An early morning stabbing in Lamar County injured a woman and landed another behind bars.
Edwina Council, 23, of Hattiesburg was arrested early Friday morning and charged with aggravated assault.
"It was apparently some type of altercation or fight that led to the stabbing and the victim, a 26 year-old female, was stabbed once," said Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel.
According to Rigel, the incident happened at 2000 Oak Grove Road just after midnight.
"The victim was transported to Forrest General by ambulance, and treated for one stab wound to the abdomen and released," said Rigel.
Council was arrested a few hours after when she was spotted by deputies walking down Hardy Street.
She was booked into the Lamar County Jail.
