HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Marshall and Florida International finally took the field around 9 p.m. Wednesday to close out day one of the Conference USA Baseball tournament.

First pitch of the game sent out of the park for a solo home run to put Florida International up by one.

Marshall quickly posted 4 runs and then the runs started to slow down after that with incredible pitching on both sides of the ball.

Marshall defeated FIU 5-3 and will face Southern Miss.

First pitch is set for tomorrow at 7:30 pm.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
