HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

In Thursday’s must-win game, Louisiana Tech took on Charlotte at Pete Taylor Park.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs eliminated the 49ers from the Conference USA tournament with a final score of 13-3.

The Bulldogs' offense started rolling in the second inning with a Chase Lunceford homerun, and then the 49ers found themselves in trouble with bases load. La. Tech took advantage and posted five runs in the bottom of the second.

Casey Sutton made quick work of the 49ers continuing the shutout through 6 complete innings.

In the 5th, a 49ers pitching change cannot contain the bulldogs as they extend their lead 9-0 with the help of a Cody Daigle homer.

Charlotte finally gets on the board when Zach Jarrett lead off the 7th inning with a solo homerun to improve the score to 9-1.

The Bulldogs put the run rule into effect with a final score of 13-3 through 8 innings and live to fight another day. Next they will play the loser of the FAU vs. Rice game at 3 p.m. on Friday.
