HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Despite game two of the C-USA baseball tournament starting approximately an hour and 15 minutes late, FAU and Charlotte jumped out to a fast start.
FAU defeated Charlotte 7-5 Wednesday afternoon.
Charlotte quickly posted three runs in the first inning, but it did not take long for Florida Atlantic to find its groove.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Owls took the lead 5-4 after Austin Langham hit his second RBI of the game driving in Esteban Puerta.
Charlotte refused to stay behind long and tied things back up at 5-5 with a solo homerun in the top of the sixth inning.
Another lead change with the Owls at the plate, Billy Endris brought home two base runners to put FAU up 7-5
Florida Atlantic will face Rice Thursday, and Charlotte now has to turn its sights to beating Louisiana Tech if they want a shot at the championship game.
