HATTIESBURG, MS -

An Alabama man is behind bars in the Hub City after allegedly impersonating a police officer.

Joshua Hernandez, 21, of Birmingham was arrested Wednesday morning by Mississippi Highway Patrol Officers along Interstate 59 near Hattiesburg.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials Hernandez flashed a badge to a female driver and attempted to pull her over.

“He was going down I-59 and flashed a badge to another driver," said Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper First Class, Brent Barfield.

The driver called into MHP and a trooper caught up with the driver off Hardy Street, according to officials.

"The trooper conducted his investigation and determined the person was not a law enforcement officer," said Barfield.

Officials said he didn't use any blue lights, but showed the badge and was flashing his lights in an attempt to pull her over, in what stemmed from a possible road rage incident.

Hernandez was booked into the Forrest County Jail and charged with one count of impersonating a police officer.
