ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

The following is a news release from Jones County Junior College

Jones County Junior College’s associate degree nursing student, Christen Nash recently received a big surprise from the Mississippi Nurses Foundation. The Executive Director of the Foundation, Rosalyn Smith-Howard recently presented the School of Nursing Leadership Scholarship to one JCJC nursing student from Laurel. Nash said to receive the $1,000 scholarship was a big blessing.

“I’ll use it use for tuition, books and other bills as I complete my degree this year,” Nash said.

The full-time, undergraduate nursing student was eligible for the scholarship based on her GPA of greater than 2.5 in her second year, and because she exhibits professional character, leadership, scholarship and service, and because of her community service. Being a recipient of other awards and honors and participating in School of Nursing activities also helped her earn this prestigious scholarship.  Nash is expected to graduate in December of 2016.
