As the investigation continued, the Hattiesburg Police Department have reduced a case in a weekend shooting in the Hub City.

The shooting was reported in the 1700 block of West 7th Street, and police said the incident was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police were called to Forrest General Hospital Saturday in reference to a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler.

“The victim was walking down the roadway in front of 1700 West 7th Street, and heard a shot and was hit in the leg,” Traxler said.
