HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds gathered to see the 27 preschoolers from the Children's Center for Communication and Development at The University of Southern Mississippi receive their certificates of completion at its annual graduation ceremony.
The children who attend the school have all different types of behavioral and developmental disabilities and no child is turned away.
"The milestones that the children continue to set for themselves and achieve is huge," said Samantha McCain, communications coordinator for the children's center. "Just from sitting in this room for extended period of time is a big deal for them. To be able to spend a year or spend the four years however long that they have been with us is pretty special. To culminate that with this one big celebration."
The graduation also included students from the Long Beach campus.
