HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Rayven Leflore was assaulted in her own home one year ago. This week she is celebrating her birthday and graduating from high school.
Her mother thought this day would never come.
"I went from being mad to being upset. I had so many different emotions, but at the same time I still had faith," mother Tara Leflore said.
Her best friend and grandmother were there every step of the way, and faith played a big part in Rayven's recovery.
"We have been through real problems with Rayven, but it was God who brought us through," her grandmother said.
Rayven Leflore had to learn how to walk again after her assault, but now she has received scholarship offers from nearly a dozen schools.
She will attend Pearl River Community College in the fall.
