Victim identified in Sumrall death investigation

SUMRALL, MS (WDAM) -

A woman found dead in Sumrall Wednesday night has been identified. 

The victim was identified as Kim Raynes, 44, of Sumrall

According to Sumrall Police officials, a medical call came in just after 5 p.m. Wednesday of a woman on the porch of a home at 11 Mulberry Street.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and investigators from the 15th District Attorney’s Office assisted Sumrall Police with the investigation.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, according to Lamar County Coroner Cody Creel.

“We will send the body off to the State Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death,” Creel said. 

Sumrall Police Chief Chris Dungan said there is no reason for anyone in the community to be alarmed.
