MISSISSIPPI (WDAM) - With fears of the Zika virus spreading in the United States, the United Blood Services has issued a notice to travelers of Central and South America.
The notice urges people not to donate if they've traveled to certain countries over the past four weeks. The notice also urges people to contact them if they've traveled to countries with known cases of the Zika virus.
Zika is a virus that is carried by mosquitoes and can cause birth defects in babies born with it. Symptoms of the virus can include fever, rash, and muscle or joint pain.
