USM hosts crowd safety and risk analysis workshop

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The University of Southern Miss held a crowd safety workshop this afternoon at the Trent Lott Center.

World expert Keith Still from the Manchester Metropolitan University in the U.K. taught the class and helped people in the workshop learn the best ways to manage crowd safety and crowd accidents.

He also taught the group crowd risk analysis and crowd science by looking at techniques to assess possible issues within big crowds.

“We look at security safety screening process, efficiencies of crowd movements and built in complex environments and again how people respond, how can we best plan for a crowd risks in terrorist type organizations so a lot about safety and security,” Still said. 

Still has 25 years of crowd safety experience and works around the world teaching people about crowd safety and crowd risky analysis.

    University of Southern Mississippi sophomore guard Shonte Hailes posted her first double-double of the season Saturday afternoon with a game-high 20 points and a career-best 13 rebounds and junior swingman Megan Brown added 10 points and six rebounds in a 61-53 win over Middle Tennessee State University.
