LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -
The president and newly elected officers and members of the Jones County Federation of Democratic Women met on Monday at the courthouse in Laurel.
The meeting was to announce its campaign to get voters to come out in November's presidential election and help get the Democratic candidate for president elected.
They also want to inform the public that the Federation of Democratic Women are on the move, and the group is actively engaging in a recruiting drive for anyone interested in joining the organization.
Currently the Federation of Democratic Women in Jones County has around 100 members in the group.
The theme for the membership drive is "Fired Up and Moving Forward."
Although the group is comprised mostly of women, they are encouraging men, who might be interested, to also join.
