PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A pair of traffic stops in Perry County landed three men behind bars and all are facing multiple drug charges.
Perry County deputies and Richton Police Officers made a traffic stop at the Family Dollar store in Richton.
"Officers seized 2.5 grams of crystal meth and marijuana during the traffic stop," Perry County Sheriff Mitch Nobles said.
Matthew L. Gilmore, 31, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (crystal meth), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and failure to comply.
Kenneth Ray Finley, 40, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Another traffic stop on Whitfield Road led authorities to more than 2.8 grams of crystal meth.
Justin Dean Smith, 29, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and careless driving.
"Every since I have taken office, this office has been fighting the war on drugs, it is a problem and we are here to clean it up in the county, and make this community and county a safer place," Nobles said. "Its help from the community and tips that folks call in to the sheriff's department and my guys out on the street doing their jobs that are what is helping this county."
