MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -
The Drug Court of the 15th District now has a new place to call home.
A ribbon cutting was held at the new facility Friday, which is located on the grounds of what was once the Columbia Training Academy in Marion County.
The previous building was destroyed during the 2014 tornado.
The program’s focus is on rehabilitating nonviolent drug offenders through a team approach.
“This structure represents a lot of success,” said Prentiss Harrell, 15th Judicial District Circuit Court judge. “(There has been) a lot of people over the years through our drug courts. It's a structured program with accountability, therefore it works."
The drug court serves a five county area with about 250 participants.
