HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A group of Native Americans made a stop in Hattiesburg Thursday.

"The Longest Walk 5: The War on Drugs" is the name of the group on its 3,600-mile journey from San Diego in February

The group is headed to Washington, D.C. in July.

The group plans to work with communities collecting information on ways to heal their troubled relatives and the Earth and searching for solutions to drug abuse and domestic violence.

"The devastating effect of drug use, including alcohol has become pandemic,” said Larry Bringing Good “This issue has to be approached with love, kindness and understanding and traditional native values."

The group’s next stop will be at the Tunica-Biloxi Pow Wow in Marksville, Louisiana
