MISSISSIPPI (WDAM) -
The Mississippi Secretary of State's Office has been notified of a Compliance Mail Scam.
Newly formed businesses in Mississippi have received postcards in the mail from a private organization informing them of a "potential compliance violation," according to a statement issued by the office.
The scam asks recipients to call a toll free number where they are informed a certificate of good standing is needed. This statement is false.
Another instance the Secretary of State's office warns of is an individual claiming to be from the office, which is also not true.
Please note, this postcard is not from the Mississippi Secretary of State's Office and no action is required by this Office.
