4th suspect arrested in Jones Co. arson, fraud case

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A fourth person is behind bars in an arson and fraud case in Jones County.

According to a news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department, Kristen Leana Jones, 32 of Ellisville, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with simple assault, accessory after the fact of insurance fraud and arson.

She made her initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court Wednesday afternoon and her bond was set at $40,000.

Three suspects, Samuel Taylor, Justin Taylor and Lisa Thornton, were arrested and charged this week after Jones County investigators discovered that a fully engulfed house fire back in January now has been determined an arson and fraud case.

When Jones County Sheriff's deputies escorted Samuel Taylor to pick up a vehicle at 210 Bush Road Tuesday, Jones came out from a shed and pulled a gun on Taylor, according to the news release.

Deputies immediately took control of the scene and arrested Jones.

During the investigation of the trio arson and fraud case, Jones admitted to dropping off Samuel Taylor the morning on Jan. 9 at the residence, knowing he was going to start a fire to destroy the property, according to Jones Co. Investigator Sgt. Scott Gable.
