Krispy Kreme, HPD join forces for Cops on Doughnut Shops

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the city of Hattiesburg.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the Hattiesburg Police Department  and Law Enforcement Torch Run Officers® are teaming up for the 3rd time to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Athletes of Mississippi. This is part of a nationwide event Krispy Kreme shops will participate in called - Cops on Doughnut Shops® in partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run®.

Officers will take to the roof of the Krispy Kreme located at 5006 Hardy St, Hattiesburg, MS, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 14th with the assistance of Hattiesburg Fire Department. Special Olympians and volunteers will collect donations from customers as the officers eat and play on the rooftop at Krispy Kreme.

The participating officers from the City of Hattiesburg and Law Enforcement Torch Run® hope to raise $1,500 during the event. Customers who donate $5 or more to the cause will get a sweet treat from Krispy Kreme. For generous corporations, organizations, or individuals donating $1,000 or more, Krispy Kreme will give a complimentary doughnut party. 

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation and local law enforcement officers have worked together for the past 15+ years for the annual Cops on Doughnut Shops® program to benefit Special Olympics. Over a million dollars has been collected at these events that has benefited athletes competing in the Special Olympics around the U.S.
