Sheriff: Woman steals check from grandmother to support drug habit

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Jasper County woman has been charged with forgery after she was caught stealing a check from her own grandmother to support her drug habit, according to the Jones County Sheriff's Department. 

Trinity Rayne McCraw of Laurel was taken into custody after her grandmother discovered a personal bank check had been stolen. 

According to a news release issued by the sheriff, the grandmother suspect Trinity because she had an ongoing problem stealing checks, jewelry, and cash to support her habit. 

McCraw was arrested on Saturday and will make her initial appearance Monday in court. 

She is currently out on bond for a possession of methamphetamine charge, and her bond is expected to be revoked, according to the release.

    Southern Miss baseball will be missing four key contributors when the its season opens against Mississippi State on February 16. Hayden Roberts, Taylor Braley, Kirk McCarty and Dylan Burdeaux wrapped up their first minor league seasons in the fall. Roberts, a 34th round MLB draftee of the Colorado Rockies, struck out 45 batters in 21 games with the Grand Junction Rockies.
