3 sent to hospital after two-vehicle accident in Columbia

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -

Three people were sent to the hospital after a mid-morning wreck in Columbia Friday, according to Columbia Police Chief Mike Cooper.

The wreck, involving a gas delivery truck and a pickup truck, happened in front of Advanced Auto Parts around 10 a.m. at the intersection of US 98 and Sumrall Road.

The driver of the delivery truck was sent to Forrest General Hospital for observation, but injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

The passenger of the pick-up truck was transported to Forrest General by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries, and the driver was sent by ambulance to Forrest General, according to Cooper. The driver’s injuries are unknown at this time.

Cooper said cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
