The first Mississippi Natural Hair Expo was held at the University of Southern Mississippi this afternoon. The event was hosted to empower and educate African-American women about how to take care of their hair. Several small businesses from across the country helped women find the right hair products for them. Some women even got a new hairstyle. The organization said it created this group so women could learn from each other and swap hair products.
“It’s just very important that you know that people get educated and you know uplifted so they don't get discouraged when they go on their natural hair journey,” said co-founder Kim Williams.
