HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
A Gulfport-based organization that promotes awareness of human trafficking in Mississippi has sponsored its first billboards in the Pine Belt.
Advocates for a Freedom (AFF) has put up a sign on Interstate 59 and another on Weathersby Road that read "End Human Trafficking."
The sign includes information about how you can help.
For the past few years, the group has sought to make the public more aware of sex and labor trafficking in the state.
"Our primary goal is to help raise awareness of human trafficking and to encourage people to inform themselves about human trafficking," said Dora Harbin, of Hattiesburg, a member of Advocates for Freedom.
Harbin said many donations from local citizens helped make the signs possible.
AFF has also put up awareness billboards on the Coast and in Corinth, Miss.
