LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Lamar County has filed an appeal against the city of Hattiesburg regarding the annexation proposal to expand the city limits further into the county.
On April 19, the Hattiesburg City Council passed an ordinance 4-0 at its meeting to annex land in both Forrest and Lamar Counties.
On Thursday evening, Lamar County filed the appeal in Lamar County Circuit Court.

The appeal cites rules 5.04 and 5.05, uniform rules of Circuit and Chancery Court practices.
The bill of exceptions has been tendered to the mayor of the city of Hattiesburg and requesting the record for appeal be assembled and upon receipt therof will be filed with this court.
"This is an appeal that challenges how the executive session was handled and what was discussed regarding the annexation," Lamar County Administrator Jody Waits said.
