The Hattiesburg Police Department received a life-saving gift today that will be carried by each member on the force.
Lois Holmes, with Project Triage, delivered 97 Triage Trauma Kits and 3 K-9 Trauma Kits to Hattiesburg police officials Wednesday at city hall.
It just shows us that the community believes in us and wants to do their best to keep us safe,” said Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler.
“This is a great gift for the whole department, this effort is not only well worth it, but it can help save a life in the blink of an eye,” said Hattiesburg Police Chief Anthony Parker.
Holmes, who is a Marion County resident, has been working on the project since she learned about the kits from her son and daughter-in-law.
Holmes said her mission is to outfit every department in the state with the kits.
“In the event something should happen these kits give us one extra tool on our tool belt that we carry with us everyday to be able to help ourselves stay alive, but also if a citizen gets hurt we can save their life as well,” said Traxler.
