HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Students at William Carey University held a fundraiser Tuesday.
"Flapjacks for Flint" was organized by the Student Government Association and proceeds will go to help buy water filters for residents of Flint, Michigan.
It's all in conjunction with the city's "Hattiesburg Stands for Flint" campaign in effort to raise $56,000 to purchase 1,000 water filters for the victims.
The group's goal was to raise $1,000 Monday.
"We have had disasters right and left, just with the tornadoes a couple of years ago and the flooding that happened recently, and so I think this is just a great opportunity for us to help out and give back," said Hannah Cook-Kelley, WCU student-activities director.
