PETAL, MS (WDAM) - The Petal Police Department is helping to bridge the gap between the community and law enforcement.
Sgt. Mike Crawford made that point while making one boy's dream come true.
Crawford and others from the Petal Police Department showed Cruz Murphy what it takes to be a police officer.
He got a chance to turn on the sirens, wear a tiny badge and handcuff a police officer.
"I can still remember the officers when I was a child that I dealt with and talked to," Crawford said. "They were always my heroes. We try and make a difference everyday with everyone, but sometimes it's easier to start with the children and work your way up."
According to Crawford, if a child wants to tour the station, all parents have to do is "call and set up a time, and we'll make it enjoyable for them."
