HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Republicans met across Mississippi Saturday to elect delegates to their state convention next month.

The GOP hosted precinct caucuses in the morning and met again in county conventions in the afternoon.

They were held to select executive committee members, delegates and alternates to the convention in Jackson.

In Jones County, 46 precincts were represented and in Forrest County, 35 took part.

"The people are tired of the establishment and ready to get back to just good old, conservative Republicans, doing the right thing, the right moral values," said John Parker, Jones County convention chairman.

"We can get in a room like we did today, treat each other with respect and come up with a presidential candidate that we're all happy with," said Don Hinton, chairman of the Forrest County Republican executive committee.

The state GOP convention will be held May 14.
