HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Tide school held its second annual fundraiser this afternoon.
This school teaches middle school and high school students who have ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety or other learning disabilities. At the event, there was live music, face painting and a silent auction.
The money raised will go toward expanding the organization. Student Sarah Abels has struggled with her dyslexia and said the teachers at the Tide School have been a big help.
"I used to be really shy because I thought I was stupid, and now that I'm going to the Tide School and realized I'm not the only person who has this disability then I feel like my self esteem has gotten really better," Abels said.
This is the Tide School's first year being open. Next year, the school will teach students from 4th to 10th grade. To learn more, check out their website.
