HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Democrats gathered together for the 4th District Convention this afternoon at the Lowery Woodall Center.

The party members discussed who they want to nominate as delegates for their district. Several people chose to run as delegates for either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. One delegate will be chosen to represent the district for Bernie Sanders and 3 delegates will represent the district for Hillary Clinton. Potential delegates said they hope the party will reunite once the Democratic candidate for president is selected.

“I think ultimately the Democratic Party will come together behind Senator Sanders or Hillary Clinton it'll be supportive we'll have to do a lot of work,” said potential delegate Michael Adelman.

The Mississippi Democratic Convention will take place May 21 in Jackson.
