PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

A person is in custody after a Friday night carjacking and double shooting in Petal.

The suspect has been identified as Denzel Johnson, 20, of Hattiesburg. Johnson has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of carjacking.

According to Petal Police Chief Leonard Fuller, two juveniles from Waynesboro met a person in Hattiesburg that was selling speakers on a buy-and-sell Facebook page.

"The two met the suspect and he said he needed to go to an ATM, so they went to BancorpSouth in Petal," Fuller said. "The suspect they picked up then started shooting at the two of them."

Fuller said one victim was shot in the arm and the other was grazed by a bullet.

"The suspect then jumped in the car and took off down South George towards East Hardy," Fuller said. "A witness saw it all happen and then followed the car, in the process a pair of Forrest County Deputies encountered the car, and then the suspect bailed out in the woods."

He was quickly apprehended with the gun according to Fuller.

Neither of the victims injuries are considered life threatening.
