The Good Samaritan Center in Laurel is asking for help in replenishing its soup kitchen's food supply.
The center's only truck broke down and they had to use money out of their general funds for the repair.
Those repairs were more than $14,000.
The center is asking the community for food and monetary donations. Items needed include gallon cans of meat products like spaghetti, but are in need of just about all food items.
"Well it really put us behind and it put us two months on delivery, we didn't have any food delivered here from Jackson from the Mississippi Food Network for two months," Good Samaritan Manager Beverly Odom said. "We had to really rely on our supply here and what the community donated and we'd like to have a truck here for Laurel so we can pick up furniture for our store, you know, a small box-truck, if someone would like to donate us one or help us get one."
Anyone wishing to help can bring their donations to the Haven Soup Kitchen on Ellisville Boulevard or the N.U.T.S Thrift Store on 16th Avenue or call them at 601-425-2666.
