2 jailed in Hub City hit-and-run

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police have two people in custody in connection to a Tuesday night hit-and-run that left a man in critical condition.

Jessica Williams, 24, and Mitchell Chapman, 37, both of Hattiesburg were arrested Thursday by Hattiesburg Police and charged in connection to the crime.

Williams and Chapman were both charged with leaving the scene of an accident, causing death, disfigurement or mutilation.

Authorities have been investigating the hit-and-run that occurred late Tuesday night on U.S. 49 near 31st Avenue.

The truck used in the crime was located unoccupied Wednesday afternoon in the 600 block of N. 31st Avenue.

They were both booked into the Forrest County Jail where they are awaiting their initial appearances.

According to police, the victim is still listed in critical condition.
