Second person charged in Jeff Davis Co. double shooting

JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A second person has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of Damos Daniels that happened in Jeff Davis County April 11.

Jaylen Thomas, of Bassfield, was arrested late Wednesday. He has now been charged with murder and attempted murder in the double shooting.

Authorities have also charged Antonio Sims of Jeff Davis County with murder and attempted murder.

On Thursday afternoon, Sims and another man were taken into custody by authorities in Jeff Davis County after a high-risk search warrant.

According to investigators, at this time only one has been charged, and the other was questioned.

Sims was charged in connection to the Monday shooting that killed Damos Daniels, and critically injured his wife, Megan Daniels.

The shooting occurred on N. Williamsburg Road in a gravel lot of an abandoned oil well. Damos was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife was taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Their two children were also in the car, but were not harmed.

The investigation is ongoing, and other arrests are pending.
