StageStruck actors prepare for "Lion King Jr." at Saenger

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of children in a local theater group are hoping "13" will be a lucky number for them this weekend.

Kids in the StageStruck Performance Studio will be taking part the organization's 13th annual spring show at the Saenger Theater Saturday and Sunday.

It's a production of The Lion King Junior.

More than 120 members of the organization in grades 1-9 are involved in the production.

"This is like no other stage production," said Nolan Lee, a ninth grade student at Purvis High School who plays "Scar" in the production. "We have a very talented cast and crew and we're excited to bring this amazing show to everybody that is excited to come see us."

"There's so much detail that you pay attention to," said Hermine Granberry, a ninth grade student from Oak Grove High School who plays "Sarabi."  "The costumes themselves, the lines that are being spoken, just the dances themselves."

There are two shows Saturday and a matinee on Sunday. You can get tickets at the Saenger Box Office.
