Hattiesburg JA gives money, toys to USM Children's Center

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The provisional class of the Hattiesburg Junior Auxiliary has given a substantial gift to The University of Southern Mississippi's Children's Center for Communication and Development.

On Wednesday morning, the organization presented a $1,000 check to the center. Several boxes of toys were also donated.

The money was raised during a carnival in last February's Children's Center Classic running event.

The Children's Center works with kids up to five years of age who have complex communication and developmental disorders.

Currently, the center is serving about one hundred children from 13 area counties.

It was founded in 1974.
