LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee held a proclamation signing ceremony on Tuesday recognizing Child Abuse Awareness Month.

The event was held at the Mississippi Department of Human Services building in Ellisville.

It was a way of expressing appreciation to the Mississippi Department of Human Services, the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, South Central Regional Medical Center and local law enforcement agencies.

Their work has been vital in the prevention of child abuse and in helping families break free from the cycle of child abuse.
