JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A two-car accident happened on Hwy 11 in Jones County Monday afternoon. 

When a silver Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Hwy 11, the driver of the car made a turn that was too close to gray GMC pick-up ruck traveling northbound.

As the truck collided with the car in a near head-on collision, the driver of the truck swerved off the road and through a ditch and hit a sign. 

At the scene, both drivers appeared to have non-life threatening injuries. 

Both Jones County and Forrest County deputies responded to the scene.

    A man jumping in to help a Lumberton Police Officer ended up with an injury of his own Monday. Lumberton Police Chief Carlus Page said an officer was dispatched in reference to a domestic incident just before 10 a.m. on Southern Street when the suspect, identified as Jeameal Taylor, starting running. Page said Taylor had knowledge he was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections and "immediately took off running." A civilian, Joshua Root, saw the chase and assis...
