USM President: "Happy to confirm" nondiscrimination policy in light of legislation

HATTIESBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The University of Southern Mississippi President has released a statement regarding The Religious Accommodation law.

The law allows private businesses to refuse service to the LGBTQ community based off of their religious background and beliefs.

Rodney Bennett's statement read:

The Executive Committee of the University's Faculty Senate has asked if I would reaffirm our institutional nondiscrimination policy in light of recent legislation impacting our state.  In addition, the University's Student Government Association has indicated that their senators are drafting a related resolution.

Mississippi State also released a statement regarding the law on Wednesday.
