LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Mason Park in Laurel Tuesday.
The Junior Auxiliary of Laurel, along with city officials and members of the community, came to the ribbon cutting.
They were gathered to celebrate the completion of the playground renovation.
The renovations included the replacement of a broken slide, the creation of two rock walls, a touch- up of paint and much more.
"We have birthday parties here, family reunions, it's just a great place to gather and have wonderful family events and we just want to maintain a safe and wonderful and beautiful place for Jones County," said Rebekah Simpson, chairman of Parkside Playground. "It's also special because of the small version of the historic district of Laurel, (and) I don't know of another place that has something like that built there."
The park was built in 2002 and has become a favorite spot for families from all across Jones County.
