Waynesboro manhunt suspect in custody

WAYNESBORO, MS (WDAM) - The Waynesboro manhunt suspect is now in custody, according to Wayne County Sheriff Jody Ashley.

Jevonnte Darvon Taylor of Vossburg, MS, was involved in a weekend manhunt and was believed to be hiding in a house in the Waynesboro area.

Ashley stressed that police were trying to avoid a shootout, and encouraged Taylor to turn himself in.

According to Sheriff Ashley, the family has confirmed that Taylor has a severe mental illness.
