HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of runners gathered in Hattiesburg bright and early Saturday morning to raise money for the ARC of Hattiesburg.
The 5th annual Rise & Shine Half-Marathon and 5K took place at Hattiesburg Clinic on 28th Avenue in Hattiesburg.
Both races raised funds for the ARC, which serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
More than 600 runners participated and organizers hoped to exceed last year's total of $25,000 raised.
"The money will go towards the ARC and their needs for the year, helping to provide services for the individuals with disabilities," said Kim Schramm Doherty, race director and chairperson.
The half-marathon course is also certified and can qualify participants for other races around the country.
