HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The principal of Hattiesburg's N.R. Burger Middle School is a candidate for a prestigious state educational award.

Robert Williams, Ph.D., is among four school principals across the state who are finalists for the Mississippi Department of Education's Administrator of the Year.

Principals from Tupelo, Hinds County and Simpson County are also finalists.

The Mississippi Teacher Center is co-sponsoring the award.

One administrator from each of the state's four Congressional districts was selected.

"It's definitely an honor to be selected as the Congressional District Four Administrator of the Year as well as a finalist for the district," said Williams. "As I share with my staff, It's definitely not an 'I' award, but a 'we' award."

There are also four finalists for Teacher of the Year.

The winners will be announced on April 14.
