JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

After a traffic stop in Jones County, a woman is behind bars on drug and child abuse charges.

Samantha Russell, 20 of Laurel, was arrested Wednesday when a deputy pulled her over for driving abnormally slow on Bush Dairy Road, according to a press release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.

Russell consented to a search of the vehicle where the deputy found marijuana, a glass pipe and two grams of methamphetamine. She also said smoked marijuana recently and that she is five months pregnant.

She also said she used drugs every day during her pregnancy when she was interviewed by the Jones County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division.

Russell was charged with child abuse, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, according to a JCSD press release.

Russell made her initial appearance in court Friday afternoon at Jones County Justice Court. Her bond was set at $25,000.
