HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

World-renowned flutists Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway are in Hattiesburg and are getting ready for a Thursday performance with the Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra.

It is the third time the duo has performed at USM. The last time was in 2006, when they hosted a benefit concert after Hurricane Katrina.

On Tuesday, the Galway's taught master classes on campus, and Wednesday, during a news conference, the Galway's said they were enjoying their current visit to the Hub City.

These students (at USM) are of a special quality," said Sir James Galway. "They're not like student students, they're really better. They're very accomplished players and it's really like playing with a real big time symphony orchestra."

"The hospitality here is second to none, of course," said Lady Jeanne Galway. "I always get a kick out of it when the students say yes m'am, yes m'am. I think, my it's so nice, people are so polite here."

Their concert with the USM Symphony Orchestra will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bennett Auditorium.
