JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A family pet brought home a large bag of marijuana in Jones County, according to press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
On Saturday, the Jones County Narcotics Division was dispatched to the 200 block of Will Hayes Road.
According to the owner, the dog came home with a bag with a substance that was believed to be marijuana.
At first, the owner thought it was a bag of trash that the dog had picked up somewhere nearby and tore open in the house, according to the press release. But when the owner got a closer look and smelled the bag, he saw a leafy substance that smelled like marijuana.
According to the press release, authorities recovered about a pound of marijuana.
The case is still under investigation.
