LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - Three Lamar County teens are behind bars after a weekend burglary at Lumberton Elementary School.
The three are not being identified because they are juveniles, according to Lumberton School District Chief Todd Wilson.
According to Wilson, the school was broken in to over the weekend and was discovered by cleaning staff employees.
The investigation is ongoing, but the suspects charges will include commercial burglary, malicious mischief and vandalism, according to authorities.
According to Lumberton Chief Elsie Cowart, the three teens could be connected to other burglaries in the area pending the outcome of the investigation.
Damage estimates are expected to be more than $50,000, but that number is expected to change pending the completion of the insurance report.
Lamar County, Lumberton Police Department and Mississippi Bureau of Investigations helped with the investigation.
The three will make their initial appearance tomorrow in youth court in Lamar County.
