FORREST COUNTY (WDAM) -

Forrest County Chief Deputy Charles Bolton sits on Forrest General Hospital’s Board of Trustees and acts as the Chief Administrative Officer at the Forrest County Jail.

The Forrest County Board of Supervisors appoints members to the Forrest General Board of Trustees where Bolton is the vice chairman.

Supervisor Chris Bowen said there is new law that provides certain ways to remove board members. Bowmen said the board has not discussed the status of Bolton’s position on the hospital’s board of trustees.

“We’ll have to do that in an open board meeting if that’s something we choose to do,” Bowen said.

“Certainly a deputy is innocent until proven guilty. He’s only been indicted at this point.”

WDAM 7 reached out to Forrest General Hospital and they declined to comment.

WDAM 7 drove to Forrest County Jail where Bolton is the Chief Administrative Officer.

The office was closed for Easter Weekend.

WDAM 7 also reached out to Forrest County Sheriff Billy McGee to ask if Bolton’s indictment will have an impact on his position at the jail, but he did not return the station’s calls.

Chief Deputy Bolton and his wife Linda were indicted on ten counts of tax evasion and filing false tax returns.

They filed joint U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns with the Internal Revenue Service for tax years 2009-2013.
